Resilience. Endurance."Bounce back". Do you have these traits? Or do you freak and stress over the slightest things? I always wondered why and how some people handle certain things so differently. I have always been pretty calm overall. Sometimes to a fault, where people think I don't care, or am just indifferent. This couldn't be further from the truth. Something in me is able to take a few minutes to process the big picture. Usually when I do that, I realize things could be worse, and I am thankful for what I do have.I have seen people endure some brutal situations, and somehow, they are still here. For me its my faith in God and knowing he wont put more on me than I can bear..It's also my son, who needs an even temperament in his life. Now, don't get me wrong! I have my days and my blowouts...I am always looking for little ways to take care of me, and help me calm myself and de-stress.This is big for us, and the people around us every day, negative energy can be contagious! Sometimes you just have to walk away, or close the door to your room for a time. We all have different coping mechanisms to bounce back- What are yours? Im going to come with some different ways to relax in my next blog...

Well the best tools for me to bounce back are, reading, bike riding, solace in quiet areas or just sleep it off. Music is a huge part of my resilience. Generally itz mind over matter alot as well..As you said my daughter needs me more than anything and I have an extreme temper but once I have made the decision to "CLOSE THA DOOR" to those people and take back my power!I looove it
ReplyDeleteI've always had a difficult time dealing with stressful situations, but after a little time I do usually bounce back, sometimes scarred up a bit, but I can move on in most cases eventually.
ReplyDeleteI always admired you Nicole for being so calm, cool and collected when I was a crazy woman at KW, running around like a chicken with my head cut off. You were the ying to my yang girl.
I'm facing some really tough things physically right now (literally today) that will require life-changing decisions, so I'm in that stressed-out place where I'm shaking inside as we speak. Please DO share some of your keep-it-cool secrets with me. I could really use them right now.
Thanks,
Liz
